ABOUT
Bea Brücker is a multidisciplinary bio designer, artist and researcher.
Her research focuses on developing biomaterials from algae and bacteria, exploring bioremediation and post-capitalist design practices. She transforms these self-developed materials into fashion, costumes and sculptures that are finalised through installations and films representing collaborative mediums.
Bea's artistic practice imagines speculative worlds shaped by climate change, where the importance of care becomes increasingly apparent. Her work draws on ecofeminism and more-than-human narratives to explore new forms of coexistence and interdependence. She collaborates regularly with film makers, VFX designers, performers and researchers to bring these worlds to life. As part of Studio Goos - Brücker, she wrote and directed her first short film, Apocalypse Fatigue. Together with Vincent Goos, she co-runs Studio Goos–Brücker, creating films, video installations and immersive visual worlds through animation, costume, biomaterials and storytelling.
Since completing her MA at the Royal College of Art she has taught the Bio platform of the RCA MA Fashion programme and works as an educator in Germany and the U.K. She regularly works on multidisciplinary projects, including with researchers from the Fraunhofer Society, theatre and film productions, and art institutions.
Her work has been presented internationally, including at Grassi Museum, Bucerius Kunst Forum , ICADE–Tsinghua (Beijing), Future Forum: German Centre for Research and Innovation (New York), Westfield Future Fashion (London) and Berlin Fashion Week. She was also an ambassador of the Global Fashion Summit (UN Global Compact, the Copenhagen Fashion Summit & Global Fashion Agenda).
